The Life Coach's Responsibility:
Mentee
The Life Coach's Responsibility:
Mentee
Every volunteer mentor must:
•Be Committed to spend at least one year in a mentoring relationship with a student.
•Spend (4) four hours a month engaging in a mutually agreed-upon activity with their mentee.
•Communicate with their mentee weekly-by telephone, email or other electronic means -to keep in touch about what is going on in their lives.
•Honor all commitments made to the mentee.
•Be respectful of the mentee's time, opinions, and decision-making.
•Serve as a positive role model by modeling desirable behaviors-e.g. patience, tolerance, and reflective listening.
•Be comfortable and able to establish appropriate boundaries with the mentee and his or her family.
•Be encouraging and supportive of the mentee.
•Help the mentee develop a milestone plan for completing high school, going on to trade school, college or work.

Responsibility to the Mentoring: Organization
Responsibility to the Mentoring: Organization
Every Volunteer Life coach must:
•Check-in with the program staff on the 15th of every month.
•Attend on-going trainings when needed or requested to do so by program staff.
•Complete evaluation surveys as requested by staff.
•Recognize role as a mandated reporter and report any problematic issues.
•Be patient and understand the mentoring relationship is a process that takes work and time.

Qualifications
Qualifications
All volunteers must:
•Be 21 years of age (Age 17 - 20 Mentor with Supervision)
• Currently on track for a High school diploma, has earned one or has its equivalent.
•Submit an application, 2 forms of reference, a copy of a photo ID and auto insurance and registration card (if transporting).
•Pass a criminal background check.
•Successfully complete an interview for a mentor position as a team member.
•Exhibit a genuine concern for students.
•Participate and attend training and periodic mentor support workshops as required.
